Datix Ltd has been announced as the successful vendor in providing a statewide Safety Learning System to the South Australia Department of Health (SA Health).

The Safety Learning System will replace SA Health's current Incident Management System with a web application that will enable health workers to log incidents, feedback and complaints. The new system will mark a change from the reporting of incidents to learning from incidents, feedback and complaints in order to improve consumer safety and outcomes.

Datix will be rolled out to all public hospitals in South Australia by April 2011, supported by training.

Datix Chief Executive Jonathan Hazan said "I am delighted to welcome SA Health to the worldwide Datix community. Everyone at Datix is excited to be involved in this important project. We are looking forward to sharing with SA Health the knowledge we have built up in implementing patient safety reporting and learning systems in the UK, Canada and the USA. SA Health already has an excellent safety culture and we are pleased to be able to contribute to improving patient safety even further".
